Blink App: Change Email, Password or Telephone Number

You can change your email, password or telephone number within the Blink app quite easily as long as you know your Blink password and as long as you are using the smart phone with the telephone number that is registered with Blink.

Your email, password and telephone number are all found within the account and privacy menu which is found within the settings menu.

How to change your email address

Once you have access to this menu, if you want to change your email address just tap on the address which is displayed.

You will be prompted to enter your Blink password. 

To keep things simple, I’m going to assume that you remember your password- although Selecting cancel or i forgot password are two other options at this stage. If you have forgotten your password, read my section below about changing your password because it is the same procedure. 

Once you have entered your password, you will be taken to a page where you can enter a new account email.

Once you have entered a new email address tap on the blue button at the bottom of the screen labelled “change email”. 

If you have entered a valid email address then a green check will appear on the screen.

A six digit verification code is sent to this new email address which you must enter into the Blink app before your new email address is changed. 

Or if you change your mind and you want to keep your existing password, tap on the left arrow on the left side of the Change email heading at the top.

You then find yourself at the sign in screen of the Blink app. 

Sign in and then enter the 6 digit verification code that was sent by text to your phone.

You are now back up and running. 

How to change your password

The next account detail that you can change from within the account and privacy menu is your Blink password.

Just tap on the word “password” and you will be warned that changing your password will require you to sign in again on all of your devices.

Select OK and a 6 digit verification code will be sent to your phone. Copy the code onto the page and tap on verify or if you change your mind select cancel (on the top right hand side.)

You will be asked to think of a new secure password and to type it in twice.

the password must follow the following 5 rules:

  1. 8 or more characters and it must contain at least one of the following:
  2. Uppercase letter
  3. Lowercase letter
  4. Number
  5. Special character

Enter the password twice- if necessary tap on the eye icon in order view the complete password.

Tap on the blue change password button and you will be taken to sign in on the Blink app with your email and your new password. 

A protect your account page will be displayed. Enter the code into the app and select the trust this device option. 

Tap on the blue verify button at the bottom of your screen and if you have been verified you will be returned to the  app’s homepage. 

How to change your telephone number

The final piece of personal information that we might want to change is our telephone number.

Just tap on the existing telephone number and enter your password and press submit.

You can enter your new telephone number in the space provided and change the country code in the unlikely event that you have moved abroad!

Once again, as a security precaution, you will receive a verification code to your existing number before the app makes any changes. You can receive the code via text or a voice call. 

Now you can tap on the blue button at the bottom labelled “change phone number.”

You can cancel at any time just by pressing the left arrow in the top left of the screen.
